Kedarnath Mandir Closing Date

In 2023, Kedarnath will close on October 26, 2024. On the auspicious eve of Bhai Dooj, the gates close for six months. After the temple is closed, a single-lit Diya is kept there for the duration of the season.

Kedarnath Dham’s closing times are still being thought about and are not yet set.

The Kedarnath Mandir’s Lord Shiva serves as the presiding idol. The winter residence is the Omkareshwar temple in Ukhimath. The temple itself is a work of art in architecture. It is a very attractive temple, complete with fine engravings and intricate carvings. The lord stays here for six months. To allow pilgrims to continue their journey even when the weather doesn’t permit it, the winter home, also known as the winter Char Dham Yatra, was created.

When the temple is closed for darshan, the yatris are taken to the Lord’s winter seat at a holy town in the Rudraprayag district of Ukhimath. According to legend, the Pandava brothers built the temple when they came here together to pray to Lord Shiva for forgiveness for killing their kin (Kauravas) on the battlefield in Mahabharata. It was later rebuilt in the 7th century by Adi Shankaracharya, who aimed to revive Hinduism. The presiding deity at Kedarnath is an irregular black stone lingam that sits on a 12-foot tall pedestal.

We hope that this Kedarnath mandir closing dates help you in deciding your pilgrimage journey to the lord.
